Homework Suggestions Using ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) Choose 2 Raw photos for basic editing in Camera Raw. Open the photos in ACR through the Bridge and use the editing tools to edit your photo. Begin with cropping or straightening, basic color and contrast adjustments. Try working with the graduated or radial filter or the adjustment brush to refine an area a little further. Choose “Open Object” and then Save the file through Photoshop either as a PSD or Tiff file. Using Photoshop and Smart Objects Choose 1 Raw photo to edit. Open 1 photo through the Bridge in the ACR and begin with some basic global adjustments. Open the photo in Photoshop but be sure you “Open Object” so that your first layer in PS is the smart object layer and not a background layer. Using the Adjustment layers try making some global changes and then try using the selection tool to make selective changes to an area in the photo. Save the file through Photoshop either as a PSD or Tiff file. Using Photoshop with selections and Adjustment Layers Choose 1 photo to edit (file type does not matter) Open 1 photo in Photoshop. Duplicate the background layer and then begin your editing. Try using the crop tool if necessary. Then using a selection tool choose an area in the photo to do a selective adjustment. Make your selection first and then choose the Adjustment layer of choice. When making your selection remember the Select & Mask option on the tool option bar along with the other settings. Try to do a couple of selective adjustment layers to become more familiar with the selection tools. Save the file through Photoshop either as a PSD or Tiff file. Colorize a black and white photo. Begin by editing a photo to turn it to black and white either in LR or in Photoshop. Using the paint brush or the adjustment layers options (hue & saturation) make selections of areas that you want to add color. Save the file through Photoshop either as a PSD or Tiff file. Removing and Retouching Using a photo from your library, in Photoshop practice the retouching tools to remove area or retouch areas in the photo. Save the file through Photoshop either as a PSD or Tiff file. Working with two or more photos Choose two photos that you want to work with and using the copy and past in Photoshop begin to create a composite.
