Escaping the confines of depicting figure and ground, abstraction has been intrinsic to photography since the medium's inception. Branching out from Experimentation in Abstract Photo 1, students will continue to shoot and critique, and build a body of work. Shooting Ideas
Light Painting- see links to right Using light paint with your camera or paint with the light. Macro photography Get in close and show just the details. Themes...Portraits, Landscapes, Seascapes, Cityscapes, Still life Abstraction of one object Maybe start with the object given to you in class or something of your own. Thinking about isolating or eliminating parts or areas of one subject. Can you change distance or vantage point to create abstractions of your object. Abstraction through influence Using the artists we looked at in class try and emulate a look or style you found interesting. Abstraction by color Using either camera WB settings or post production editing create abstractions through color. Abstraction by movement Using movement of the subject or camera explore shutter speeds and camera controls to create abstractions. Abstraction by alteration Using the camera or editing tools explore making abstract photos through alteration. |
